Depression and anxiety are very common today and many people experience them. I have personally experienced both and I have felt horrible, so I know how awful it is to have them. There is an interesting mindset that Christians can have to deal with these problems. I thought to share it with everyone.
Sometimes we may feel completely ruined when something bad happens to us. Of course, it is important to try to achieve good things in life, but there is one mindset that may help us feel less pain when something good isn’t achieved. This mindset is the fact that our current life and this world are temporary and they are nothing compared to the eternity that we will spend in heaven/hell after we die (Metropolitan of Limassol, 2022).
This mindset liberated me when I adopted it. Let’s say that you never manage to get your dream job. This is horrible, right? This is very bad and it will always be very bad. However, the fact that you didn’t get your dream job during your lifetime doesn’t seem to be the end of the world to you, if you think that this life is temporary compared to eternity. I believe that achieving good things in this life is important, but it is not the end of the world if you don’t achieve them. This is what I am trying to say. They don’t have immense value like eternity has, so you can’t feel like everything is lost for you because you haven’t managed to achieve things that are temporary.
Humans tend to put eternal value in temporary things and this is often the cause of extreme sadness and anxiety. I just thought to share this with people because this mindset really helped me and I hope that it helps you too.
